I having problems with the MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer plug-in.
It doesn't seem to be working...I am using wordpress 2.9.2
I've tried de and re-activating it. Along with re installing it.
Sometimes it will show a ping log when I publish a post. Sometimes it won't.
Anyone know what's going on?

Hi D,
If it is showing the ping log when published a post then i guess plugin is working correctly.
Thanks -

Hi,
But it's not, that's the issue. Most blogs don't have any log since the day they were built. A couple do, so I know they are working.
Thanks -

Jabin,
The plug-in is not showing a ping log.
Nothing at all shows up in the ping log when I publish a post.
Why would MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer not ping a post when it is published?
I did try forcing a ping yesterday and it worked.
However, it pinged the forced ping twice within three minutes.
I have the "limit excessive pinging" box checked and set at 15 minutes.
So why would it ping a forced ping twice in short time?
After forcing that ping yesterday, I set a scheduled post for today.
That scheduled post time has come and gone, post is published, but no pinging with your plug in has occurred.
Why does a forced ping work but a published post won't ping?
There is definitely something wrong. What could it be?
Thank you. -

I am having the exact same problem, published posts NOT pinging. If I do a forced ping, that will work.
On another site the problem is double pinging. Sometimes at the same time and sometimes a couple of minutes after the 1st ping even tho I have the "limit excessive pinging" box checked and set at 15 minutes. -

I'm having the same issue, sometimes double pinging after 1 minute. Since yesterday I'm not getting a ping log after publishing. I deactivated and reinstalled again. Any news in why this is happening?
Thanks! -

I gave up on maxblogpress. Don't get any answers here. If they don't care about you I won't use it.
I found a better one anyway and I hope others will quit om MBP also since they don't care. You can find it at ultimateplugins.com. Just groogle it. It's called Ultimate Plugins Smart Update Pinger. It's free. I'm using it and it works like it's suppose to but you have to upload it thru FTP or cpanel. Which ever you're more comfortable doing. If you have any questions post them back here. MBP should love that. -

Right now which one is the best replacement to Maxblogpress...I guess we have to start looking different choices..
Here is the email I got from support:
Hi John, We are currently busy on our new product launch so we are not able to give our time to ping optimizer and maxbannerads bug fix but we are trying our best to solve the issue with these two plugins. As soon our product is launched we will be fixing our bugs soon and a new updated version will be available to download.
Regards,Krishna Sigdelhttp://www.maxblogpress.com-
You know, that's REALLY bad business. Time to bail.

Actually cbnet Ping Optimizer is just modified version of ping optimizer. So the working functionality is the same.
Please have some patience for the new version. -

@Gaurav
You say, Please have some patience for the new version.
No. Every day you wait, and it's been many, you fall that much farther behind your competition. Like I said, I use Ultimate Plugins Smart Update Pinger. It works like it's suppose to. -

Just installed the Plugin, this thread make me feel a little uncomfortable about using it... Reply from support is essentially non existent. It feels like this plugin is being ignored/abandoned. I will definitely give Ultimate Plugin a try.

I'm starting to wonder about this plugin too. I can't even download the manual. I think I'll deactivate it and use another plugin. I'll research Ultimate Plugins Smart Update Pinger.

I've used MBP Ping Optimizer for some time. I noticed today that my hosting account looked unusually full. I haven't checked it in a long time, but I was wondering what could possibly take up that much space.
I logged into mysql and found that mbp ping optimizer was taking over 1 gigabytes of hosting storage! And that was JUST for ping optimizer logs.
I checked the plugin's page in my blog and the log was "empty" even though it is obviously writing to the database.
Anyway, this looks like a bug that needs to be fixed. I'm using MPB ping optimizer Version 2.2.5.-
Hi Tony,
If you have been using Ping Optimizer for a long duration of time, then due to the error generated by outdated ping sites the error log might be large.
So what i suggest you is to use a small but effective ping list rather than using very long ping list as you never know when the ping site is going to be outdated. -
